Apsalar Post Install Postback Integration

Creating and Managing Postbacks

Postbacks allow Apsalar users to send conversion and event data to a variety of sources. Using our self-service Postback tool, you can create and send postbacks to any endpoint. Currently, Apsalar supports the following Postback types:

  • Custom Event - Send a notification for any event you've configured for your app.
  • Revenue Events - Send a notification when any revenue event occurs.
  • Engagement Events - Send a notification when any engagement event occurs.

Creating Postbacks

To create a postback to your desired source:
  • Navigate to the Attribution Tracking page of your Apsalar account.
  • Click the Postback URLs tab.
  • Click the Create New Postback button

  • Postback Recipient: On the Create New Postback page, select your Postback Recipient.
    • There are two categories of recipients: Integrated Ad Networks and Custom Recipients. Integrated Ad Networks have worked with Apsalar to setup and test postback templates for easy setup. If your desired recipient is not an integrated Ad Network, than it is considered a Custom Recipient. There will be different instructions in the steps below for postbacks to Integrated Ad Networks versus Custom Recipients.
      • Digital Turbine is already an intergrated Ad Networks, please select APPIA.
  • Application: From the Application dropdown box, select the application for which you would like to send postbacks.
  • Event Type: Select the event type which will trigger your postback.
    • If Custom Event is selected, you will need to select the specific Custom Event from the drop down box that appears.
  • Postback Status: Choose your desired status.
    • Active - Once you've successfully created the postback, it will immediately begin sending the specified data to your designated endpoint
    • Paused - Once created, the postback will be visible in the Postback URLs table, but it will not send any information to your designated endpoint. You must change the status to Active to begin sending data.
  • Attribution Rules: Choose whether you'd like to send postbacks for all occurrences of the selected Event Type or only those attributed to a specific source and/or campaign.
    • If you choose to send postbacks only for attributed occurences of your Event Type, you will need to specify the following:
      • Source: Select the attributed source. This can be an Integrated Ad Network or a previously added Custom Source. To send postbacks for all attributed occurrences of your Event Type, select 'all sources'.
      • Campaign: You can choose to restrict your postback to a single campaign. To send postbacks for your selected source for all campaigns, select 'all campaigns'.
      • Click or Install lookback: You must set either a click or install lookback period for your postback. The lookback period is the allowed time for which your Event Type will be attributed to a click or install from your selected source. The default value for both Click and Install lookbacks are 28 days.

For example, let's say you've created a postback for the Custom Event  'Added Item to Cart' attributed to TapSense with a Click lookback set to 28 days. If a user clicked on the ad from TapSense on March 1st and then completed the event 'Added Item to Cart' on March 27th, the postback would be sent to your designated endpoint. But if the user completed 'Added Item to Cart' on March 30th, the postback would not be sent, as March 30th is outside of your Click lookback window.
  • Preview: Here the Postback URL can be displayed, edited, or added.
    • For Integrated Ad Networks:
      • Event Type with Template: The preview box will simply display the URL that will be used for your configured postback. No editing is required for the URL.
      • Event Type with Required Ad Network Values: Some integrated Ad Networks have specific values, such as IDs or usernames, which must be passed in the postback. If you've selected an Integrated Ad Network with this requirement, you will be prompted to enter this information as shown below:
      • Event Type with Without Template: If you've selected an Event Type which Apsalar does not yet have a postback template from the Ad Network to support, you will need enter the appropriate URL. Please contact the Ad Network for help obtaining this URL. The Postback Macros below can be used to supply necessary information in the Network's desired endpoint.
    • For Custom Recipients: When using a Custom Recipient, you must enter the exact URL  to which you would like to send postbacks. The Postback Macros below can be used to supply necessary information to your desired endpoint. Here is a sample endpoint using Apsalar's Postback Macros:

  • Click the Create Postback button in the bottom right to save your new postback.
Your postback will now be visible in the Postback URLs table on your Attribution Tracking page.
